All it would have is the course day/time, reading material, and dates the essays were due.

There seems to be a lot of ass-covering on the part of the University here, and spoon-feeding students information that has nothing to do withthe course.

Anyhow. Put the course-specific stuff in the syllabus, and add a short blurb that says "For information about X, Y, Z, please see the website at http://whatever.edu/course". Then the information is accessible, but you don't need to print hundreds of copies of it.Heather Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04084760093354979692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29059245.post-5159010761188797862007-01-09T20:36:00.000-06:002007-01-09T20:36:00.000-06:00I've never taken a course where we followed the sy...I've never taken a course where we followed the syllabus exactly.

I also don't recall ever receiving a syllabus with all that extra university info in it.

I'm inclined to think that, like jeans, we might take these things a little too seriously.Ms.PhDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11050354864577547294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29059245.post-7170079811352530342007-01-09T18:41:00.000-06:002007-01-09T18:41:00.000-06:00"I wonder if I can just copy the paragraph provide..."I wonder if I can just copy the paragraph provided for me or if I have to write my own"

HeeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29059245.post-1625916920757984392007-01-09T16:33:00.000-06:002007-01-09T16:33:00.000-06:00The bits about listing every resource ever seem li...The bits about listing every resource ever seem like overkill for sure. I encourage them to read this putting it up on the projector whenever a student asks a question whose answer is in the syllabus. This happens every day for the first few weeks and a couple of times before every exam.

The second part is a contract, and like all good contracts, it is full of stuff that most people never read. But it is important that it all be there in case it is ever needed. I put all this stuff on a separate page.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29059245.post-60507688307734024132007-01-09T01:32:00.000-06:002007-01-09T01:32:00.000-06:00Are the services for NNS for your course different...Are the services for NNS for your course different from those for other courses? Is plagiarism permitted in some classes? If not, why doesn't the university give the information to the students once and leave your syllabus to the informations relevant to that particular class?
