Overexposed?
Today in Scientopia, I discuss a reader's question as to whether it is better to take a 1-year, non-tenure track, teaching position that will/might become tenure-track (and thereby possibly getting the 'inside' track on the TT job), or whether it's better to wait and apply for the tenure-track job.

That is a tough call, in some depts. those who take the one-year are doomed because the dept. thinks if they were really good, they would have gotten a t-t job. But in other depts. the holder of the 1 year does have the inside track. My best advice is to apply, but do not assume anything and apply for other jobs the next year as well.
It's better to dump academia and get a good paying job in the real world making a tangible difference.
